Nethy Dharma Somba Papuan businesspeople are calling for more involvement in projects in the province, saying they wanted to be active participants instead of outsiders.
Radya Wanggai from the Papua branch of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) said that whenever a project was underway in Papua, local businesspeople were rarely involved. |

The government should immediately form a team to investigate allegations that US-based PT Freeport Indonesia is mining uranium in Papua, a legislator said.
Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) faction in the House of Representatives (DPR), Hazrul Azwar, said here on Thursday, "It is necessary for the government to immediately form a special investigation team to check the truth of allegations that PT Freeport Indonesia is mining uranium in Papua." |
