Lecturer Faculty of Law, University of Cenderawasih Jayapura, Biloka Tanggahma said that Jayapura need to open the Study of Rural Community Empowerment Program. Study Program of Community Empowerment is essential to meet the needs of rural areas in Papua. "I think we need this program because many college students after graduated feel confusing to look for job and can not help educate and train people. "

Justice and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar said Sunday he planned to release a number of Papuan political activists jailed for campaigning for separation from Indonesia.
The minister said during his visit to Papua that he would discuss the plan with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto. The policy, he explained, aimed at stabilizing the restive province. “We will see whether they were involved in major crimes such as murder or whether they were only participating in a rally,” he said in Sentani Airports in Jayapura.

Puncak Jaya Regency Parliament Chairman Wenda Nesko said that the National Liberation Army separatist group the Free Papua Movement (TPN / OPM) under the leadership of Tabuni Goliath, which is headquartered in Tingginambut Puncak Jaya, Papua, allegedly recruited hundreds of residents became members. Residents then trained to use weapons and guerrilla war. There were about 400 people from various districts in Puncak Jaya successfully recruited a member of the OPM leader Goliath Tabuni. Furthermore, they were educated in the OPM in Tingginambut headquarters,''he said. |

 History of Jayapura In the book of Nagara-Kertagama writen by Rakawi Prapanca of Majapahit, under the rule of King Hayam Wuruk, in 1365 A.D, it was mentioned that West Papua was belong to Majapahit Kingdom territory. In one of its paragraphs mentioned “Muwah tikhan i wandan, ambwan (Ambon) athawa maloko wwanin (Fakfak)” were the sovereign territory of Majapahit Kingdom. |
